Sex.com Radio… We Do It On Air

Have you ever had a chance to visit a radio studio? I have been spending some time in one lately, and it is amazing to watch how a show is produced... from the technology used, to the interaction of the radio hosts and guests, to editing the final product.

The reason for my visit to one is that the Sex.com Radio Show started production last week, and we have had the pleasure of being entertained by our great co-hosts, Jason Stuart and Ciara Parsons, as well as some funny and interesting guests. On the adult side, author and director Jamye Waxman opened up about her new book, Getting Off, A Woman’s Guide to Masturbation, in honor of National Masturbation Month. She candidly gave us some sex tips and a brief history lesson on the stigmas associated with self-loving. Jamye has a Masters in Sex Education and is a wealth of knowledge on subjects dealing with sexuality.

Our very own Holly Randall was excited to talk about her first column entry written exclusively for Sex.com. In addition to reading the eye-opening paragraph, she shared a bit about her childhood and how she came to be a second-generation photographer. Holly looked fabulous and even had co-host Jason Stuart flustered by the dichotomy of Holly’s pretty face and oh so dirty mouth.

Also, comedian and actress Wendy Kamenoff dished about her divorce and upcoming wedding, leaving out NO details of her private life between those two relationships, proving that woman can act just like men and are not above simply wanting to get laid. Wendy has appeared in numerous TV shows, such as The Sopranos, The Bernie Mac Show, and Curb Your Enthusiasm, to name just a few. After her segment, I had a whole new respect for the sliding door.

Mainstream – Are You Kidding Me?

From the start, it has always been our vision to take Sex.com mainstream. And from the beginning, I have heard over and over again that there is no way we are going to be able to pull this off.

For all of the skeptics out there I have just one thing to say: “Are you kidding me?”

How can it not be mainstream?

Sex is everywhere. In the shows we watch on TV (ex. Nip/Tuck), to the music we listen to (ex. Kid Rock’s single “So Hott”), to the movies we watch (ex. the upcoming Sex and the City), and even to the games we play (ex. Grand Theft Auto).

It’s even among the videos we watch on one of the world’s most popular websites, YouTube. For those of you who might be shocked at this, someone sent me a link to the following video of Sarah Silverman singing her “Porn Song.” Now, there is certainly no one naked in it, but it sure is explicit in its own way.

Mind you, there are varying degrees of explicitness, but sex is sex. As an adult, it’s all a matter of taste and choice. Our site is going to give you the option to view a variety of things that are suited to your individual tastes and desires - - all in an adult environment. By the way, did I forget to mention that her video has been viewed over 1.3 MILLION times? (And it’s earned a four-star rating.)

Mainstream? Without a doubt.

I get invited to the coolest events...

I get invited to the coolest events, and this one was in my top five for 2007 -- the grand opening of the Ritual Nightclub in Hollywood. The Ritual, formally the White Lotus, was completely reinvented to stay ahead of the evolving club scene in Hollywood.

The club is owned by two of the best guys in the biz, Jack and David. Their success is predicated on hard work and a desire to succeed – and they are first-class every step of the way.

The night of the grand opening had it all, including the buzz that this type of event conjures up. The press reps were out, as the event had a guest list that included a who’s who of A list celebrities. There was the traditional press walk where those who wanted to be seen were seen. Once inside, food was amply available – the Kobe burger appetizers are a must! – and the drinks were flowing

The highlight of the evening was a performance by Linkin Park benefiting their Music for Relief charity. I am a huge fan of the band, and getting the opportunity to see them play songs from their new album Minutes to Midnight – in addition to all of the other hits – in a small club with around 200 people… I definitely consider that a SPECIAL event. So if this entry sounds like one big advertisement for the Ritual Nightclub in Hollywood, so be it. Jack and Dave deserve the plug for putting on an event second-to-none.

If you are in Hollywood and you want to go clubbing, put the Ritual, located at 1743 Cahuenga Boulevard, on the top of your list. It’s THE place to be. Hang out, enjoy the food and drinks, and dance the night away. You never know who you will see there. I saw Linkin Park and rubbed elbows with celebs from some of my favorite TV shows. Don’t forget to dress to impress in case you run into one of your favorite celebs – it’s their neighborhood, after all.
