French porn star Katsuni is suing Bow Wow and Universal Music Group for $75,000 plus punitive damages for publicity rights violations, unfair business practices, false association and unjust enrichment.
Katsuni appeared in The Electronic Conspiracy’s “Conspiracy Strip Club” music video, surprisingly as a stripper. Bow Wow’s “Drank In My Cup” video uses the exact same dance routine performed by Katsuni plus a look-a-like for some simulated sex without any permission from The Electronic Conspiracy or Katsuni.
The lawsuit states: “At no time did plaintiff permit footage of her dance performance in the Electronic Conspiracy music video to be used for any other purpose or in conjunction with any other musician other than Electronic Conspiracy.”
Let’s compare the two videos:
It’s pretty blatant that they ripped off the dance but Bow Wow is definitely not the one to blame. The director of “Drank In My Cup” is Rico Da Crook. Is anyone surprised that a self-proclaimed crook would plagiarize another music video?
