Move over Carmelo Anthony! You’re no longer the prized pig of the NBA 2014 free agent class! To be fair, you’re still a very prized pig but c’mon dude, play some D once and a while, but Lebron James’s agent has announced that the best player in the world will be opting out of his six year contract with the Miami Heat early to test the market and hopefully end up on a team where he doesn’t have to drag the whole roster to the NBA Finals by himself.
LeBron James' agent Rich Paul has told Heat LeBron will exercise early termination option

This a great day to be an NBA fan because on July 1st, Lebron James may not be a member of the Miami Heat, which means we can stop hating on the best player in the world. There’s just something intangibly despicable about the Miami Heat, much like the Toronto Maple Leafs in the NHL. It’s in the team’s DNA to be hateable, so Lebron leaving the most dreaded franchise in the NBA is a breath of fresh air.
Now, James opting out of his contract doesn’t necessarily mean he will cease to be a member of the Miami Heat. It’s very possible that he signs if they somehow manage to bolster the roster with players who can still play meaningful minutes. From now until Lebron James announces where he will be bringing his talents to, there will be a total media frenzy.
Los Angeles will be convinced that James is going to come and get Kobe his one last championship. New York will think that their Knicks will win free agency by dropping Carmelo Anthony and adding Lebron James. All of Ohio will literally do anything to have their prodigal son return and play alongside Kyrie Irving and possibly Jabari Parker. Heck, even Minnesotans might think that they can keep Kevin Love if they could just sign Lebron.
The point is, in the next few days you’ll be hearing a lot of “experts” tell you where Lebron James is going, but don’t believe anything until you hear it from James himself.
Instead, I suggest we just enjoy this brief moment where Lebron James is no longer a member of the Miami Heat by counting down…
