E.P. asks:

“I’ve been masturbating every day since I was a teen. Recently, I took a month-long hiatus from masturbation and I found that women were more attracted to me. So what I’m wondering is, does regular masturbation make  you less attractive to women on some subconscious level?”

I’m not sure that regular masturbation makes you less attractive to women on some subconscious or pheromonal level, but over-indulging in masturbation might be hurting your own subconscious motivation to go out and meet women.

An old study in Psychology Today (so old that it’s now impossible to find, sorry) found that testosterone levels in men is higher than average when abstaining from sex, masturbation or any kind of orgasm. Chronic masturbation can leave your body depleted of testosterone, which is bad for attracting women because testosterone is what fuels the male libido and sex drive. Men who have abstained from orgasming for at least 7 days saw a spike in their testosterone levels.

Masturbation makes the release of sexual frustration easy. Especially with super high-quality free porn websites like Sex.com. Meanwhile, attracting women is slightly more complicated than opening your browser. Though I have no science to back me up, I personally believe that life rewards those that take the hard road. So resisting the urge to masturbate whenever you’re feeling horny will make you motivated to seek that release through sex with a real, live, flesh and blood woman.

The subconscious knowledge that you can always go home, turn on your computer, and masturbate lowers men’s confidence and their commitment to meeting and talking to real women. When you don’t give yourself that option and approach women with confidence, you’ll be more attractive to women because your libido and sex drive will be working over time and you’ll be acting with confidence. And as we all know, confidence is the most attractive quality any person can have.

On the flip side, some men swear by the “Loaded Gun” theory. The “Loaded Gun” theory states that masturbating before going out to meet a woman helps stay relaxed, calm, and confident. That’s because when you experience an orgasm, your brain releases a hormone called dopamine, which causes the euphoric sensation. So there’s no reason to swear off masturbation altogether, because you might find that it’s easier to attract women with a brain full of dopamine.

So to answer your question E.P., there’s no conclusive evidence that masturbation makes you less attractive to women. Masturbation can affect your motivation to go out and meet women, but it might also help.

The thing about people is that we’re all different. Some men will find that scaling back their masturbation will bring their game way up, others might find that masturbating regularly is the only thing helping them meet women.

All I can do is suggest you try both ways and see what works best for you.
