  • The New ‘Galactic Cap’ Condom is Maybe Not That Awesome

There’s been a huge amount of publicity and hype surrounding the recently announced saviour of a condom called the ‘Galactic Cap.’  People are always looking for new contraceptives to replaced the tried and true ones that have been around for centuries.  Fact is, many men don’t really like using condoms.  There’s a variety of reasons why, but one of the primary ones is that wearing a condom can severely reduce the sensation in one’s penis and make sex less pleasurable.

The push to replace condoms has been especially felt from the pornography industry, which is currently in the midst of getting ‘screwed over’ by the California State Assembly who are trying to pass a bill enforcing strict use of condoms on porn sets.

Enter the Galactic Cap, a new contraceptive that claims to provide the same benefits of condoms, without the unwieldy full-latex sleeve that you gotta wrap around your dick.

In a feature with LA Weekly, the creator of the Galactic Cap broke down the virtues of his new invention:

“If you use this you might overcome the problem of using a condom on camera. A lot of people might not like the look of [traditional condoms] going in and out,” he told LA Weekly. “It’s transparent, on the head, so it doesn’t look so gross.”

The quote above outlines the main problem with this new condom.  Ultimately any improvements that it provides are pretty cosmetic.  Sure, it may look less invasive on camera.  It will also allow for more sensation for the shaft of a man’s penis.  But the main problem?  You’ll be sacrificing safety for pleasure using these things, which sort of defeats the purpose of a contraceptive measure in the first place.

The danger involved with sex reaches much deeper than what’s contained in a man’s cum.  Sure, the condom will still prevent pregnancies if applies properly, but it does nothing to account for STIs and any other sexually transmitted diseases, which can still be transferred through skin contact, pre-cum and in many other ways.  Simply wrapping up the tip of your penis will not prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases, which is obviously an insanely huge flaw in the design of these condoms.

I have a hard time imagining that the Galactic Cap will get FDA approval with such a huge flaw in its design, but we’ll see.  First thing’s first, Powell, the creator, needs to raise a bunch of money on IndieGoGo.

Basically, I’ll believe that these things are gonna hit the market when they actually hit the market.  Until then, Galactic Cap condoms are a nice, but inherently flawed invention.  Still, its nice to see that people are researching improvements in our contraceptives, because really, they’ve hardly been improved in the last several hundred years.

  • Will This Hashtag Convince You To Pay For Porn?

If you follow your favorite pornstars on Twitter, I’m sure you probably noticed a high-volume of them tweeting the hashtag #PayForYourPorn.

Though the hashtag is pretty self-explanatory, allow me to explain it anyway. It’s a campaign within the adult industry urging porn consumers to start paying for their porn rather than pirating porn for free.

Let’s take a look at some of the participation in this porn industry hashtag activism:

#PayForYourPorn became a movement shortly after actor and bad motherfucker Samuel L. Jackson made a joke about Redtube, a free internet porn site, at an Avengers press conference. Some pornstars saw his joke as a winking endorsement of pirated porn, which needless to say didn’t go over well.

Coincidentally, when Jackson made his Redtube joke, the anti-piracy campaign was initiated by the company Adult DVD Empire, which, as a porn DVD retailer, has obviously been hard-hit by the widespread availability of free online porn, which spawned a website and PSAs from two of our favorite pornstars, Chanel Preston and Tasha Reign.

    Watch those PSAs below:

“The fans don’t understand: we get paid once for shooting the scenes and that’s it,” says Tanya Tate. “The fans are like, ‘don’t you make money from the sales? Don’t you make royalties?’ And you’re like, ‘No.’ But you still want them to pay for your product, because you want the companies to keep going and keep hiring you to shoot for them.”

The aim of #PayForYourPorn is simple. Get fans to stop thinking of porn as something they’re entitled to. That sense of entitlement is hurting those behind the content. Performers, producers, distributors, and crew members all suffer from porn piracy.

Getting people to start paying for porn is not a modest task: Given how ubiquitous tube sites are, it’ll require nothing less than a total paradigm shift, let alone a modestly popular hashtag. “The majority of the porn-consuming public thinks of porn as something that has a baseline value of ZERO,” says the adult performer Siri, a vocal anti-piracy advocate who has embraced the #PayForYourPorn hashtag. “[…] We have to change people’s minds about porn, and convince them that adult films ARE valuable and it’s worth it to support those performers whose work they enjoy.”

Of course, things get more complicated when you consider the fact that MindGeek owns most of the major studios as well as all the prominent tube sites.

“In the mainstream movie industry, a company like Warner Brothers, if they saw one of their films on a tube-like site, they would immediately get their lawyers and get the scenes taken down,” Tanya Tate told the Daily Dot. “But in our industry, the big players are also the ones behind the tube sites. They’re the ones that direct where all the traffic goes.”

So with that in the way, it’s hard to see how the smaller guys and the performers can make a change, since we only have to look at the Twisty’s Treat of the Year controversy to see how MindGeek feels about its talent (that they’re expendable).

It’s easy to criticize hashtag activism, since it’s trying to implement real change on something that’s fleeting by nature. But then again, at least people are exposed to the issue.

Honestly, I feel like the concept that porn should be free is so entrenched in the minds of people all around the world that its too late to change the minds of the vast majority. Of course, die-hards and the technologically inept will continue to pay for porn, but what about everyone else?

Will you start paying for porn now that you know your favorite pornstars want you to?

Do you feel any guilt knowing that when you torrent porn, you’re taking food out of the mouths of hard working pornographers?

Just think about and discuss in the comments.

  • Can Bitcoin Save The Porn Industry?

bitcoin and porn Can Bitcoin Save The Porn Industry?

Finally. A reason to buy bitcoin.

As I’ve mentioned before, the porn industry is getting killed by piracy.

Producing any kind of movie is expensive, including adult movies. Obviously some amateur porn videos are produced for approximately $0, but feature-length porn movies can cost upwards of $100,000.

So while we’re enjoying all this free porn, the reality of free porn is that porn studios are spending lots of money to produce the videos we watch for free and hardly any money comes back to them.

The big question within the adult industry since the beginning of the porn tube-site era has been, “How do we get people to pay for porn again?”. Could the answer be Bitcoin?   Continue Reading

    Porn iTunes

Believe it or not, the porn industry is in trouble. You’d never know it based on the ubiquity of porn on the internet or the mainstream media’s fascination with the adult industry, but it is.

So what’s threatening the porn industry? Is it the risk of STIs? Is it the moral right wing trying to spoil our fun?

    Nope!

The greatest threat to the porn industry is piracy. It’s slowly but surely bankrupting porn studios all over the world.

Porn is something that we all enjoy for free…

But you should know by now that nothing is free. So while we can watch all the porn and never pay a cent, the fact is that the perverts that make the porn and the pretty girls starring in the porn are the ones that are paying for it.   Continue Reading

  • HIV Positive Test Shuts Porn Industry Down For a Fourth Time

111108015158 blood vial test story top HIV Positive Test Shuts Porn Industry Down For a Fourth Time

    Get Tested!

The porn industry has shut down for the fourth time this year in light of another pornstar testing positive for HIV.

The HIV positive performer in question is allegedly male pornstar TJ Cummings. Apparently, TJ was being tested regularly up until October 25th. He did not get another test until December where he tested positive for HIV on December 3rd.

What’s frightening about TJ’s test results is that he was unaccounted for an entire month and it’s still unclear whether or not he’s spread the HIV within the industry. One thing that’s deeply concerning are the text messages that TJ Cummings sent to Pressley Carter on December 5th, which Mike South posted on his blog.

    Take a look:

BbAJ4UpCIAA43gv.png large 1 HIV Positive Test Shuts Porn Industry Down For a Fourth Time

BbAKSSeCIAAM1wy.png large HIV Positive Test Shuts Porn Industry Down For a Fourth Time

Here we have TJ Cummings aware of his HIV-positive status and still trying to book work that would likely cause the infection to spread within the industry. Now, based on these screenshots, it’s very easy to blame TJ Cummings. However, his side of the story makes things a little bit more complicated…

TJ Cummings spoke to Mike South about his HIV-positive status and said that, “that TTS called him on Wednesday December the 4th and notified him that there was a problem with his test. They sent him the results of everything BUT his HIV test. He said they told him that ‘this was not unusual and that he had nothing to worry about” and that they had gotten no results from his first test”.

According to TJ, he’s never escorted in his life and he hasn’t done a webcam show in 6 months. All of his sexual partners since October 1st, both on and off camera, have been notified.

What I don’t understand is why Talent Testing Services (or TTS) handled the HIV-positive test so nonchalantly? Especially since there was another HIV scare in the porn industry as early as August.

Some people will be quick to use TJ’s HIV as yet another reason why the porn industry needs mandatory condoms, however I’m still not convinced because there’s no evidence that he contracted HIV while shooting. More testing isn’t the answer either because pornstars have to pay for their own tests and testing every three days or something just isn’t cost effective for them.

But then again, I don’t have any ideas on how to solve the problem. How can we protect our beloved pornstars from contracting HIV and other diseases?

Please feel free to leave your thoughts on how we can protect our pornstars in the comments.

  • Porn Goes 4K with Kiera Winters

    Kiera Winters in 4K

One thing you may or may not know about the porn industry is that it’s full of nerds.

Pornographers love new technology almost as much as they love naked babes.

How do you think porn became so ubiquitous on the internet? It’s because a bunch of nerds who made porn were like, “This internet fad is really fly. We should put porn on this internet thing and it will be even more fly.” It was the 90’s. People said “fly” a whole lot more than they do now.

The new technology that has the porn industry’s panties in a twist is 4K Video.

    What is 4K Video?

4k Video can be one of two definition resolutions: 3840 x 2160 pixels or 4096 x 2160 pixels. Meaning 4K is 4 times the resolution of standard HD.

This picture should illustrate what I’m talking about:

Digital video resolutions VCD to 6K Porn Goes 4K with Kiera Winters

A company called Huccio is the first porn company to shoot porn in 4K.

Toni Tsai, one of the creators of Huccio said, “There seems to be some backlash online about how ‘gross’ porn would look at 4k, but we beg to differ. I will say that more care needs to be taken during the shooting and post process as you will inevitably see more details. Details do mean more flaws exposed but when done right, as we hope you see in our content, it can look amazing.”

Here now is a teaser of Huccio’s 4K porn featuring one of my favorite babes, Kiera Winters:

It’s cool that Huccio is trying to make 4K porn-friendly, but the world isn’t ready for 4K porn.  Continue Reading

  • “No I Won’t Be Your Fluffer” by Holly Randall

Before Holly Randall was the best erotic photographer in the world, she wrote a column for the old Sex.com. I asked Holly if I could rerelease some of her old columns (which thankfully she still had) and she was on board.

Please enjoy this very special blog post written by the one and only Holly Randall.

Make sure to visit http://www.hollyrandall.com to see why she’s the best erotic photographer in the world.

It may sound funny to suggest that a pornographer has moral boundaries, but I do have certain lines that I won’t cross. But the day came when I’d reached one of those lines — one I really didn’t want to cross. At this moment, it appeared that either I was going to have to compromise my integrity, or I was going to lose money on a failed photo shoot. What’s disturbing is that I was almost prepared to do the former.

I was shooting a centerfold for Playgirl magazine, and what I’d always dreaded, but what I’d always suspected, had happened. The model, expecting some kind of female fluffer on set, discovered that I was to be the only girl present that day. Yes, I was the photographer, but why couldn’t I perform double-duty?

“You know Holly, you’re going to have to fluff me today,” Continue Reading
