Have you ever been watching one of the thousands of vanilla dating shows on networks such as Bravo and VH1 and thought to yourself: “This show is great and I am learning about the intricacies of love, romance, and forging connections with a potential significant other, but I would really love it if these people were naked so I could also be jerking off the whole time?”
Have you ever been on a date with someone and thought to yourself: “I wish instead of regular boring dating, this was Naked Dating?”
Now you have your chance, because a show has just entered production for VH1 called ‘Naked Dating.’ You can probably figure out what the show is about based on the title, but if you need some further clarification:
“Each episode will feature a man and a woman as they each date two different — and naked — suitors. The series will explore the art of romance — free of preconceived notions, stereotypes and, yes, clothing. At the end of every hourlong episode, the two romance-seekers analyze what they’ve learned from their dates — and themselves — before deciding whether to move forward with their potential love matches.”
Of course, since the show is on VH1, there won’t be any ACTUAL nudity. You’re going to have to use your imagination/x-ray vision to see through the likely vast amount of censoring and blurring that will be all over your screen. Which begs the question, if you’re going to waste an hour a week trying to imagine what these poor censored suckers look like naked, it would be much easier to just log onto Sex.com and look at some ACTUAL naked people, right?
Still, it seems like the show’s heart is at least vaguely in the right place. The idea is that, if you meet a potential partner in the nude, you’ll be rid of many of the societal stigmas and boundaries that stem from being clothed and modesty and all of that other prudish boring stuff.
Don’t get it twisted though, still is still just a gimmicked-up version of your classic boring ass dating shows. Fortunately I find myself compulsively watching dating shows all the time. There’s something kind of fun about seeing two horribly awkward people meeting on camera for the first time for the purposes of **TRUUUE LOOOVE***
Another problem? Guaranteed that the only people on the show are going to babes with rocking bodies. That might be good for viewership numbers, but its probably not a great representation of the naked body in general.
What do you think? You gonna watch this show? More importantly, would you participate if given the opportunity? Naked Dating is gonna be out eventually, so you probably have some time to apply!
